Teaching and learning
Our school follows the new National Curriculum. Our teachers work with our Head of Curriculum to plan and assess school programs to ensure that the teaching and learning undertaken in our school is of an excellent standard.
Our teachers access regular training to ensure that their skills and knowledge remains current and that they model our belief that all people are life-long learners.
Homework
Homework is designed to create a practice situation for work previously taught. It plays an important part in the teaching and learning process. Regular homework will be administered for children to complete. This takes a variety of forms, as decided by each teacher. As a link between home and school, homework should be used by parents as an opportunity to share in the child’s developing skills. In most classes, homework is set regularly. The time required for homework varies and is at the teacher’s discretion. However, homework should not be a burden to child or parent. If this happens, it is important to discuss the matter with the class teacher. Long-term assignments and projects should be worked on regularly to allow completion by the set date.
