Sea FM’S Spelling Bee Thanks To Station Square

Last Saturday, our Year 3, 4, 5 and Year 6/7 teams represented Albert State School at the semi-finals of the Spelling Bee.  Competition at all levels was high with some very interesting words.  For example, haloumi, jodhpurs, tabouli, leukaemia just to name a few.

In their round, the Year 3, 4, 5 team finished the round tied with another team and were forced through to a sudden death tie breaker to determine who would take a spot in the finals.  Unfortunately, despite a tremendous effort, the team missed out by just one word.
In the 6/7 category, scores again were close and our team missed out again, by one word.  Again, a mammoth effort was displayed by the team who tried their very best.

Congratulations to all competitors who studied hard gave up part of their break time to practise and represented our school well.  Thank you to the parents of competitors who gave up their Saturday morning to bring their children to the Spelling Bee and cheer on our teams.  Thanks also to those students, staff members and friends of the school who dropped by and supported our teams at the semi-finals.
